CEPA Workshops

CUSTOM WORKSHOPS

Workshops can be tailored to specific needs. Groups of four or more should contact CEPA for additional information and group rates.

Tutoring

Individual instruction is available at $35/hr with a two-hour minimum per session.

College credit

Darkroom

The darkroom is set up for black & white film developing and archival printing with tray chemistry. Enlargers, carriers, and lenses for film formats between 35mm and 4x5 are available. The darkroom has a large sink with the capacity to make prints up to 20" x 24" and an excellent ventilation system. 

Digital Lab

The digital lab currently has two G5 and four G4 Apple computers, Adobe CS software, internet access, a flatbed scanner with 35mm, 120mm and 4x5 transparency adapter and Epson 1280 printers.

Darkroom and Digital Lab Hours

The darkroom and digital lab are available to both members and non-members. Both are located in the Underground Gallery.

Digital Media/Graphic Design Classes (Mac based)
PC Users...not to worry!

We acclimate you to the Mac environment...it’s easy!
We have updated our Digital Lab with speedy iMacs and up-to-date Adobe Creative Suite 3 software!


Basic Photoshop
Instructor: Wendy Lasker

Mondays and Wednesday: August 11, 18, 25, 27…6:00–8:30 p.m. Register through August 6.

Pre-requisite: None

Learn the foundation of Adobe’s premier digital imaging software. Material covered: selection, paint, transform, drawing and text tools; filters; image adjustment; image transformation; photo retouching; layers; blending modes; opacity; file formats; importing & exporting graphics; image size and resolution for print and the web; bitmap vs. vector graphics. A flash drive (256 MB minimum) is helpful for transporting your work.

$150 member / $175 non-member

Basic Web Design/Dreamweaver
Instructor: Wendy Lasker

Tuesdays and Thursday: August 12, 19, 26, 28…6:00–8:30 p.m. Register through August 7.

Pre-requisite: Basic Photoshop (CEPA or equivalent)
Programs used: Dreamweaver & Photoshop

Learn the tools, techniques, rules & guidelines of web page creation. Technical & aesthetic considerations will be addressed. Material covered: site & file management; tables; text; color; hyperlinks & navigation; layout; image & art creation; rollovers; image file types; image & screen resolution; browser considerations; making your site live: FTP (uploading files), Web hosts, ISP’s, domain names. A flash drive (256 MB minimum) is helpful for transporting your work.

Photography Classes

Digital SLR Photography
Instructor: Joel Brenden
Wednesdays, July 16, 23, 30, August 6, 13, 20 6:30 to 8:30pm Register through July 9
This workshop will teach you the fundamentals of photography and the ins and outs of your digital SLR camera, as well as train and uncover your own particular photographic eye. You will be given the tools to accurately shoot, edit and print your photographs for either creative expression or any photographic situation you may find yourself in.
$150 member / $175 non-member
